On The Road With Mom

We left home on Tuesday afternoon, about 3:30, right after all the Home Health Care folks finished giving mom her final checkout for travel, and her hair appointment!!

We drove until about midnight, and had made it to Texarkana.  I like to get some miles under us the first day to get the trip moving, but mom went to bed about 9:00pm.  We spent the night in a Wal-Mart parking lot in New Boston, TX.

We got on the road Tuesday morning, and Mom was ready to go, although she thought that the a/c was a little cool!!!

She sat in the passenger seat up front, and enjoyed the view…….

As planned, we drove the 150 miles to Little Rock, AR, and met our daughter at a Cracker Barrel (easy RV parking) for lunch.  After lunch, we drove out to see where she and Mike had bought a 5 ac. lot to build a new home.  Here are pictures of their current home on the hillside of the Arkansas River.   The back yard is terraced very nicely.

After the tour of the home, we headed back to the Bus and prepared for hitting the road again.  Here are some pictures of the three generations of King’s (Patsy, Mom, and Deanne with Izzy):

We got on the road at about 4:00pm and drove until 10:00pm.  We spent the night in a Tennessee rest area on I-40.  We had a good night.  Mom slept all night!!  We ate breakfast, took showers, and picked up the Bus.  We hit the road, and drove through Nashville, and up I-65 to the Kentucky Welcome Station, where we stopped at 1:30pm for lunch and a rest.  Here are Mom and Patsy resting while I checked out things on my pc and updated this blog.

Louisville is just up the road, and I plan to drive to Columbus tonight.  That will put us near the Ohio Amish country where we will us the car to tour around while we wait for the IRV2 RV rally to start on Sunday in Dundee, Ohio.

The last two days have been the best that mom has had since the surgery, and she is having a good time.

I hope to publish more regularly on this trip now that we are “down the road’!

More later…………..
