Trip to Quartzsite – Part 3

We left the Benson parking lot on Monday morning, and headed toward the Flying at Eloy to fill our fuel tanks and empty our waste tanks before heading to the desert.

Along the way we hit Tucson, and the Camping World/Beaudry RV complex. We parked in the Camping World lot and went inside to shop. Mark had to by a battery for his trailer, and I got some accessories. We left the RV's there and took my CRV to tour the city.

Across the street was a La Mesa lot and they are a Tiffin dealership, so we stopped in so Mark and Sue could look at some Phaetons. We quickly got connected with a salesman and eventually got an offer to drive one. So we all piled in a Phaeton to watch Mark drive. The Salesman could see that Mark’s driving skills were poor, so he drove us about 10 miles out of town to a community center parking lot to let him practice before getting on the highway. I failed go bring my camera, so we did not get any pictures of the great event!

The salesman told us to hang around because they were having a barbeque! Mark and I got excited, and he even wanted to go and get our big ‘potluck’ plates out of our campers. Another salesman lie……….. they barbequed hamburgers, and put them on a bun with cheese, and a pouch of mustard and onions!!! We told the wives that it was lunch anyways, and ate it. Mark dealt with the salesman and his ‘finance’ guy, but they would not move much on the price……….. too much overhead with the barbeque and such!

Patsy and I then took Mark and Sue down town to a local “Trader Joe’s” grocery store. They are a ‘western USA food’ store specializing in healthy food. Sue really like it and Mark found some candy that Sue let him buy.
We then went back to the Camping World and got the RV’s, and drove on to Eloy. It was late, and after we filled the diesel tanks, we decided to park overnight in the back of the truck parking lot.

On Tuesday morning, we decided to drive into Casa Grande and do laundry before heading out to the desert. Even though we have the washer and dryer in the motorhome, we would have had three loads of clothes to wash and dry, and we would have had to use the diesel generator to power them. It was a lot cheaper to use a laundromat, plus Mark and Sue had even more clothes to wash, since they had been on the road about a week.

After washing clothes, we drove the 200 miles to quartzite and ‘claimed’ the space on the desert near town for the RVAmerica group. We barely got set up before it was dark. After setting up, we drove into town and had dinner at a local restaurant.
