Quartzsite -- Wednesday & Thursday

Our first two days at Quartzsite were fairly quiet. We set up in the desert and roped off an area for the RVAmerica Forum group.

When we got here, we found out that the local La Mesa dealer site was providing free pancake breakfast..... so that is where the four of us had breakfast the last two days.

Two years ago, I purchased a propane catalytic heater made by Olympia called a "WAVE 8". The heater works without the assistant of any electric power for air flow, and that is a good thing when boondocking for a period of time. It also puts 100% of the heat into the RV instead of putting half of it out the side vent. Mark saw the heater and wanted to install one in his fifth wheel trailer.

For the last two years, they have been sold in the 'Big Tent' for half price, and Mark is hoping that they have them this year. So...... on Wednesday, we spent a good part of the day visiting Herb's Hardware store, and purchasing the necesary copper tubing and fittings to plumb it up. Then we came back to our campsite and installed it. It turned out to be a nice job! Now if they just have the heaters on sale!!!!

On Thursday, after breakfast, we hit some of the local flea markets and bought some tools and ball caps. It was fairly cool here, but we walked the markets from 10:00am to about 2;00pm.

I was contacted by Chuck North, a Tiffin Bus owner from Washington state, last year on the Tiffin owners network forum about camping at Quartzsite. This morning I got a note from him (with his cell phone number) asking if we really planned to go to Quartzsite this year. I called him and told him that we were here already. This afternoon he and his wife, Lori, stopped by and visited.

They have a 2007 Allegro Bus. They are presently staying at a resort on the California/Arizona border, and plan to join us in our camp on Sunday...... assuming Mark and I did not scare them off!!

When I took the North's picture, Mark was saying "Take ours, take ours, take ours!!", so I did, and here it is:

By Thursday afternoon, we had 5 RV's in our circle...... two motorhomes and three trailers. We are expecting at least 5 more RV's by the weekend.
