On Monday morning, we woke up to more rain, and headed out of our campground without getting any pictures of our site. Luckily, I hooked up the car on Sunday night, and did not have to do that in the rain.
We left the campground and headed toward I-40, and headed west through Knoxville. We stopped at a Walmart at Rockwood, TN, parked the Bus, and toured the backroads in the car.
We set our GPS to find a local state park, Frozen Head State Park. After driving on a lot of small roads, we finally saw a sign and thought maybe we were there! It turned out to be a prison!!
We continued on a road just past the prison, and it went on for 25 miles of curves, hills and sights. We eventually did pass a sign that said we were “leaving Frozen Head SP”, although we never saw an entrance, state park buildings or campgrounds. The sights were pretty good though:
We finally got back to the Interstate, and the trees showed the beginning of fall color:
As we got closer to the Fall Creek Falls SP, which is at a pretty high elevation, the road got steeper and more hilly, but the scenery was pretty:
We plan to check into the SP campground, and spend 2 or maybe 3 nights.
