Camping and Visiting -- Quartzsite

>

For the past eight days, our small traveling group of Tiffin RV'ers have 'boondocked' (dry camping without hookups of any kind) on the desert. We have managed to make it with the one tank of fresh water that we started with, and managed our electrical power by charging our batteries with our on-board diesel generators operating intermittently.

We have camped with a group that has numbered about 11 Rv's, with faces changing some every few days. In those eight days, we have had a lot of enjoyment camping and visiting. That is the topic of this posting. Subsequent postings will cover other topics.

Patsy even had the chance to take over flying a kite that Chuck had put in the air:

Shortly before we arrived, I had a comment on this blog from Sven Novion, a guy that I worked with at ALCOA. He had retired last year (I retired 4 years ago from Point Comfort TX Operations) from the Pittsburgh Headquarters, and purchased an Alpha motorhome to full-time with, although he still owns a lot of property!! I managed to contact Sven by email, and found out that he was in Yuma......... about 75 miles south, and was headed for his first visit to Quartzsite. I told him where we were camping, and he and his wife stopped by one afternoon to visit. They stayed for our "happy hour" meal, and here is a picture:

A lot of our time has been spent sitting around our campfire area.......... eating, visiting, and enjoying the fire. Here are some photos:

Bob, Manuel, and Connie.......

Patsy, Lorraine, Sandy, and Linda (with Chuck running into the picture) ............

Mark visiting with our Canadian visitors, Bob and Karen.............

Virgil, Karl, and Mike. Virgil and Mike are part of the original group from about 2002, and Karl has been here the last couple of years, but is only visiting this year and camping elsewhere......

Sue and Lorraine eat while Connie and Manuel load up their plates............

Patsy and Virgil wander around while Canadian Bob and his wife Karen sit and enjoy the fire. Linda is looking on..................

Since tonight was the last night that some of us would be here (we are leaving for Yuma tomorrow morning), the new visitors for this year were presented with their official RVAmerica 'Quartzsite Trailer Trash' ball caps. This years' newbies were Connie & Manuel, Sandy & Steve, and Sandy & Dave. They were presented by Mike, our wagonmaster........
More "Q" postings to come.............
