Quartzsite -- Saturday & Sunday

Since my access to WIFI is ‘iffy’, and if you want to see more about Quartzsite, you can go here:

http://www.because-we-can.net/

This is the website of a full-timing couple named Bob and Linda. I have followed their site for about 8 months, and it is interesting. They are parked across a ditch from us, and we intend to meet them before we leave. Once you get on the site, you can go to “Home”, and then click on “Journal Archives” to see all their postings on Quartzsite. They have been here for a couple of weeks.

Friday was the day we drove to Yuma to get the new tires following the blowout. It was a 175 mile round trip, but when we got to Yuma, the sun was out and the weather was nice. After we got the tires, we ate lunch at a Chili’s restaurant, and then drove back to Quartzsite. About half way back it started raining and continued all the way to Quartzsite. In fact, it rained all day, so we did not have the nightly camp fire. Instead, we piled into Mike and Linda’s Suncruiser for cocktails & snacks, and ended up playing a game called Pegs and Jokers until about 10:30pm.
On Saturday, Patsy and I got up in time to be at the big tent when it opened at 9:00am. It’s about a ½ mile walk, but it beats trying to find a place to park. It was full of vendors for everything from RV campgrounds to travel information and RV accessories. While at the show, we ran into Bob and Linda of the website above. They, too, were braving the crowds at the first day of the tent show. Here's some pictures: The tent from our camp area, Crowds inside the tent on day 1, and the area on the outside of the big tent:
We walked back to the motorhome for lunch, and after lunch, we drove to another part of town where other vendors, including a motorhome dealer and Camping World were set up. We didn’t buy much, but had a good time. We also managed a free lunch from the La Mesa RV dealer.

Saturday night, we did have a campfire. Another couple arrived, and they brought a lot of firewood and a washing machine tub……. We had a good fire. A second couple that is going to Mexico with us visited, but they are staying at a local campground to have hookups! Cocktails and food were also available. Here's a picture of Patsy and the "ladies" having a drink:So far, there are four motorhomes and three fifth-wheel campers here that are going to Mexico. Another motorhome is due to arrive on Monday. Two other couples are meeting us either along the way or at Puerto Penasco. It should be a fun ride!!

More as I find WIFI available.
