Camping at Rayford Crossing

We pretty much spent the whole day here at the campgound. Here's a picture of the registration office and rally halls.

The morning started with a breakfast provided by Southwest RV which is a part of Camping World in Katy, TX. Immediately afterwards, Willie Harris, an RV Tech from Southwest RV conducted a preventative maintenance seminar to the group.

.......... and as can be seen, it was pretty interesting, and all attendees were paying close attention:

After the maintenance seminar, Dutch and Sandy Dinwiddie presented a class on "dutch oven cooking' . The following shows Dutch conducting the class, and a close-up of the dutch ovens.

Afterward, everyone gathered in small groups to cook for the evening potluck, visit, tell lies, etc. Here's a typical group where there are a couple of turkeys cooking on a smoker, and Patsy is telling lies to a few other kinds of turkeys.

We finished the day with a great potluck dinner. The smoked turkeys were very tasty, and Sandy Dinwiddie (with some help from Dutch) made some great multi-grain bread and a pork loin in their dutch ovens. We also had taco soup, shrimp, ham, a lot of vegatables, and great desserts.

We really had a fun weekend. It is starting to rain now, and we are thinking that we will hit the road fairly early in the morning. It looks like the Houston area weather will deterioate quickly around mid-day tomorrow.

The next campout is in March, and we will be there. On to Quartzsite...........
