Cold Traveling

When we left Fort Stockton today, we thought we had gone past the icy areas. We were surprised. The first sign was the three DPS units sitting at the junction of I-10 and I-20. Then we saw the 80 MPH signs with snow and ice on the ground! As we came over a hill, we started seeing wrecked cars and trucks........ about 7 or 8 in a three(3) mile section. Some pictures are below:

I shot the pictures of the wrecks by just pointing my camera while driving. These are the ones that caught the subject:

Here's a couple of pictures of ice on the bushes along the highway:

We did make it to El Paso by about 3:00pm, and about 75 miles East of here, it had begun to clear off. When we arrived in El Paso, the sun was shining, but it was still fairly cold. We parked the MH in a Flying J truck stop, and took the car into El Paso to do some sight seeing. We took the scenic tour over the mountains and saw El Paso and Mexico from one mile in the sky, and eventually found our way to an Outback Steakhouse for dinner.

We plan to stay at the flying J (we are parked with about 20 other MH's) overnight, and spend tomorrow morning in El Paso. Then we are going to go to Las Cruzes, NM, where we have located a Winnebago dealer to look at the Winnebago version of the 38T. The one in Victoria was an Itasca brand.

It's going to be below 32 again tonight, but the WAVE is already going. We took showers, and it is nice and toasty in the MH.

Later.....
