Friday -- Starting The Virginia Portion of BRP

Although we got up early this morning, we did not get to the Stone Mountain Campground soon enough to get a spot with the busy weekend crowd. We checked the PA website and found an RV Resort in Hillsville, VA. When we got there, it was mostly shutdown, and they did not offer the discount on the weekend. It was also way out in the boonies and away from the parkway. We eventually found a nice KOA that was right at the entrance of the BRP where we wanted to get on, plus they included WIFI.
We crossed over into Virginia this morning, and the first place on the BRP that we stopped was the Music Center. Here are BRP pictures and the Music Center:
The Music Center.......

We took a break from the parkway, and went into Mount Airy, NC. It is the place where Andy Griffith grew up, and based a lot of the Andy Griffith and Mayberry RFD shows on. The center was pretty much a tourist trap, but we had fun:

When we got back onto the parkway, we visited a site called Maybry's Mill. It is said to be themost photographed attraction on the BRP. When we toured it, it stated that the mill had three rooms and purposes; 1. a sawmill to cut logs into lumber, 2. a grining mill for cornmeal and flour, and 3. a woodworking shop with a drill, lathe, and joiner.
They also had a 'still' on display:
Here's a couple of pictures of our KOA:
