Things Are Happening at Red Bay!!

Weather-wise, the Red Bay area was under the massive storm warnings that cover many of the mid eastern states today. We woke up to heavy rain and had heavy showers all day, but no signs of tornadoes, despite having them on the ground west, south and north of us.

Things were happening with repairs to the Bus, also. I was both surprised and pleased. Even though our appointment is not until Monday, March 5, we got a call to report to a bay at about 9:30am this morning.

They began to replace the roof rails (curved section connecting the flat part of the roof to the sidewalls) on the PS of the Bus. Monday morning at 7:00am, we go into a bay to get the new Attwood jack/leveler system (estimated to be a 4-hour job), and then after that we will get the other side of the Bus roof rail replaced. The process is to replace a section of molded fiberglass with a curved aluminum piece. It is made with a machine much like a gutter fabricator. They also now use some shiny black anodized aluminum stock, so no painting is involved.

Here are some pictures of the roof rail installation:

The jacks and roof rails are the two big time consuming jobs, and the rest of our list should be easy to get done. That is good, because we are scheduled to go to Bruce Deaton’s Paint and Body shop on Wednesday to get some minor body work fixed.

I took advantage of being here, to buy some LED light bulbs to continue my transition from halogens to LED’s. Today, I replaced the bulbs in the hall bath at the vanity mirror (already had changed the ones in the puck lights in the ceiling) and the twelve puck lights in the bedroom. Now, especially when we are dry camping, we have LED’s along the center of the front of the coach, the entire hall bath, and the bedroom ceiling.

It is currently 9:00pm here, and the severe weather warning is about to expire, and although it will be cloudy for the rest of the night and early morning, the sun should come out for the next several days. Patsy and I are trying to find something to do on Saturday and Sunday. We may go to Tupelo or Florence, or we may go with a group of people to eat at the Rattlesnake Saloon in Tuscumbia, AL.

Tomorrow, we will post what we end up doing!
