Our hometown of Victoria has been advertising an RV show at our community center for the past two weeks. We had initially planned to start our trip on Wednesday afternoon, but decided to wait until noon today so we could check out the RV show. What a blunder....... the third MH that we walked into really interested us. We have been looking for the right motorhome to replace our aging ('93 model with 157,000 miles with all original equipment) coach for the past 2--3 years. Today, we may have found it. Although we had been leaning toward a diesel, we have been moving back toward gas for the last 12 months. This one is a gasser!!
Our very first motorhome was a 1978 Itasca, although it was a 25' Class 'C'. This one is a 2007 Itasca SunCruiser, floor plan 38T. After seeing it, we left the show, and went to get our camera, and then went back and did not get on the road until 5:00pm. Here are some pictures:
NOTE: I started this post in a Walmart parking lot using WIFI from the adjacent Chick-fil-A, but when they closed, it shut off..... so I am finishing it on Saturday morning at the campground.
Some comments:
I like the paint job, but the front looks like an old person that just smelled something bad!! However, when you are driving it, you don't have to look at the front.
We like the layout. As you can see in the second set of pictures, it has the front kitchen. The refrigerator is behind the driver's seat, and the washer/dryer is immediately behind the passenger seat. Patsy could wash and fold while we are driving!!! It has a very nice kitchen with a large counter. The dinette table is also extra wide.
Behind the kitchen is a nice living area with good seating for TV veiwing. It has a queen size bed with the "select comfort" feature.
The sales guy at the RV show did not seem interested in us after we told him that we would not buy that day. On Saturday morning, we had some time to kill, so we drove up to Conroe, TX, and went to the DeMontrond dealer. We ran into a really helpful sales guy that, even knowing we weren't going to buy today, took his time to show us the same MH, and he closed the slides so we could see it in the "drive" configuration. We liked it that way also! Unlike the RV show guy, he offered to talk dollars with us, and asked if we wanted to drive it. I declined because we are going to Quartzsite, and I will drive one there. There's a good chance that we will buy in Conroe.
As a side note, one of the salesmen at Conroe saw our CRV, and asked us if our motorhome was an Airstream? He said he had noticed our rig on the Walmart parking lot the night before (it's about 20 miles away), and had driven around it a couple of times because it looked so nice and was in good shape! Yeah, I can be worked!!!
