After the retirement ceremony on Friday, we left the Charleston area at about 1:00PM after fueling up the Bus near the campground. We finally stopped to overnight at a Wal-Mart in Marianna, FL about 9:00PM after logging about 460 miles.
Our plan was to reach Navarre, FL to check into a beach front campground by noon on Saturday. We achieved that plan and also toured the Destin and other coastal beach areas on the Gulf in the Florida panhandle.
Our reservation was at the Emerald Beach Campground in Navarre, FL. We had a reservation for Site 50, which was near the private beach at the park. When we got checked-in, and set up, we found the site to be as advertised, which was a pleasant surprise!!
Here are some pictures……….
The campground had a nice beach area, but we took a short drive to Navarre beach, and the following photographs will tell the story of the fun we had………..
After our trip to the beach, we stopped off at a Wal-Mart, and bought the fixings for grilled hamburgers, which we made as soon as we got back to the camp site!
On Sunday morning, we left Emerald Beach Campground, and headed for The Gulf State Park Campground in Orange Beach, AL. We had a campground reservation for three (3) days……. Sunday night through Tuesday night.
This visit will be covered in the next blog.
