We left Naples this morning and took Highway 41 towards Miami from Naples. It is called “The Tamaimi Trail Scenic Highway”. It is a two lane, narrow road and here are a couple of pictures that show what it looks like (even behind Mark’s RV)……
This highway has mostly swamp on the north (left in this picture) side and swamp and a solid land/swamp mix on the south. As we were driving along, we saw a lot of alligators in the ditches. Here are some pictures of the alligators……..
There were also a lot of interesting birds along the way. Here are some of them……
After seeing so much wildlife from the Bus while driving down the road, after about 30 miles, Mark spotted a cheap campground (at least now we think $28 is cheap!!), and we stopped for the night. Here are pictures of the campground and our sites……
Mark chose to stay at the campground while Patsy and I drove along the highway to see more wildlife, and to visit the two nearby small towns – Everglade City and Chokoloskee. One of the things that we saw was a couple of really nice RV parks that were not listed. One was apparently brand new and had about 40—50 sites, with only 4 filled!! It was named “Everglades Isle”. If interested, you can click the link, or just check out the following pictures.
Here are a couple of other things that we saw on day trip:
An art gallery(?) that Sue might have enjoyed…..
Three pelicans curled up and sleeping on mooring poles…..
Here is a great pelican picture that Patsy got near the other nice RV park in the town…….
All along the highway, we have been seeing signs similar to the ‘deer’ signs in Texas. However, so far we have not seen any panthers…..
Except for the statue at the entrance to our campground……
Sue has informed us that her mother is doing much better, and she is re-joining us in Miami on Sunday. We are going to wait at a casino near Miami until she gets here. It is about 50 miles from here, and we plan on doing that trip tomorrow. Of course, that was today’s plan. We will see where we are tomorrow night!!!

It looks like you guys are enjoying yourselves. I was surprised that Mark was not wrestling with those alligators.
