We spent Saturday night on the parking lot of the Miccosukee Resort and Gaming Casino & Hotel. Here are some pictures that I took on Sunday afternoon during the half-time of the Colts/Jets game. You can notice all of the TV antenna’s cranked up!!
Here is a close-up of the car that the motorhome behind me pulls behind him………
Sunday’s plan was that Patsy and I were going to take a day trip to Key Biscayne, and Mark was going to drive to the North Palm Beach Airport to pick up Sue for a 4:50pm arrival from Lake Charles (Lafayette).
Patsy and I left about 9:00am, and drove to Key Biscayne, and the Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park. Once we got on the island, we found that traffic was seriously backed up due to a bike ride that was being sponsored on the island. The good thing was that the state park was almost empty!!
The Miami skyline…….
The Key Biscayne skyline…….
Bikers on the way to the state park……
We finally arrived at the state park, and found more good news…… the “skeeter meter” was also reading low…….
The park was nice. One of it’s attractions was the lighthouse. It was the second one with the first being burned down by Indians in the 1800’s. Here is a group of Lighthouse photos:
The path to the lighthouse…..
Patsy looking through the window……
The lighthouse keeper’s quarters with kitchen in the back………
Other views of the lighthouse…….
Structural parts of the first lighthouse…..
On Key Biscayne, the beaches were:
Rocky to the South……
……… and sandy to the East…..
On the way out, Patsy found some more Pelicans and wanted to take pictures………
Tomorrow, Monday, we will probably head south toward the Keys. We are thinking about spending a couple of nights along the way at the Flamingo Campground in Everglades National Park before our reservations at the Sugarloaf Key KOA begins for three nights. Maybe???
