Touring the Florida Coast & St. George Island

On Monday, we decided to take a road trip and see St. George Island.  With it just sitting out there in the water, with a long bridge connecting it to the mainland, it was just too tempting.  We took the car for a 150 trip.

This was the causeway and bridge leading to the island.

The first thing that we saw was the lighthouse……..

At the East end of the island, the St. George Island State Park is located.  We drove through the park, and checked out the RV area.  They have water and electric hookups, with a dump station.  This is one of the nicest beach state parks that I have visited, and could have easily spent a few days here…….. if our schedule would allow.  We need to be back in Texas this weekend for a Tiffin RV rally in Lagrange.

The water was clear, the shells would have been easy for the grandkids to collect, and the sand was bright white and fine.  There were several areas refereed to as “Sugar Hill”….. which adequately describes the stacked sand!

On the way back to the RV park, we stopped at several ‘rough’ beach areas.  The following pictures will do the talking….

This area of Florida is beautiful and peaceful.

When we first arrived at Ho Hum RV park, I plugged the Bus into the electrical receptacle, but the rear (bedroom) air conditioner did not come on like it normally does.  I crawled upon the roof, took the fan guard off and gave the fan blade a spin.  It took off and the a/c began to cool.  It eventually began to make a whining nose, so we cut it off and ran the two days with just the front air conditioner and a couple of fans.  That worked OK.

I called and made an appointment with Carpenter’s Camping Store, a Tiffin dealer in Pensacola for Tuesday, so that was our destination for the day.  I posted my problem on the TRVN forum, and got this place as a recommendation from another Tiffin owner.  We got there about noon, and they got right on it.

They determined that the a/c motor was bad, but did not have one in stock.  It has been ordered for over night delivery.  They hooked us up to water & electric and set us up to spend the night on the lot.

It is now Wednesday morning, and we are waiting for a 10am delivery.  We hope to be on the road to Lagrange by 2pm.  We’ll see!!!!!

More to come…………

Thanks for a look at the CG Richard. I wanted to stay there for a few days, but their online reservation system shows that there is virtually nothing available until the end of July.
