After spending the better part of Monday morning chasing a solution to a motorhome problem, we switched back into ‘tourist’ mode.
The trip to the dealer for the Jack this morning took us past the Hershey complex in Hershey, PA. We noted the shape of the street light fixtures. In case someone has not seen them, they are interesting, and they alternate between wrapped in foil and unwrapped chocolate..……
First of all, an update. While driving around the Lancaster area, we found a Wal-Mart that had a ‘Hello Kitty” night shirt for our older granddaughter. Another problem in the solved bin!! See the post of October 10.
One of our goals for this trip is to find an Amish hickory rocker and a lap quilt for our 2 1/2 year granddaughter in Little Rock. We will actually see her the last weekend of our trip, when we take care of her in Branson, MO while her parents attend a medical conference. We plan to surprise her with the gifts at that time.
We stopped at a few stores today, but mostly just drove the back roads. We did find a rocker that was close to what we want……… the darker one in the following picture…..
While driving the back roads, we were reminded that Monday is Amish wash day………
The following are grouping of some Amish buggies and people that we saw……….
As we drove the back roads, we found a lot of produce in the fields and in stands for sale, with the first being a load of pumpkins………
The three pictures below show the young Amish girl from the stand bent over in the garden picking more fresh broccoli and the third picture shows Patsy standing in front of the garden with her purchase………..
The following is another stand, and look at the size of the broccoli in the wagon……..
We also stopped off at one of the stores where you co uldwatch cheese being made and taste samples of cheese and jellies. Patsy bought a jar of peach jelly. I also caught her sampling some cheese while on a diet…….
The following are pictures of the countryside…..
More back road trips and shopping tomorrow!!
