On Sunday, our second day at the Jolly Roger campground, we decided to take the car and explore the area north of Marathon Key.
Since we had all day, we stopped or pulled into anyplace that looked interesting. We saw this cove, and the painted garage door (for Sue Didelot) in a small neighborhood….
In a campground, we saw this big rig (a Nick Russell dream coach). I guess the car in the second picture rides in the big trailer……..
A little further up the road, we stopped at a place called “Robbies”, which was a different kind of place…. crafts for sale, a couple of bars, boat trips, and a place where people could buy a small bucket of fish and feed Tarpons that were in the harbor…….
There we lots of pelicans hanging around. Some tried to get the fish from the tarpon feeders!!!!!!
Patsy tried to get close to the pelicans……
The following are pictures that I tried to get as the tarpons grabbed the fish from peoples hands. When the tarpon hit the fish, the hands were yanked up too quickly for me to get the picture. Only the lady below was wearing a glove!!!!
Here’s a picture of the area of the fish-feeding……
There were some coconut “people” for sale and they reminded me of some of the RV’ers that I know……
There was another place along the route that had ‘crafty’ things, including pottery, for sale. There was a large lobster out front……..
Patsy and I finished the day with a meal out at Key’s Fisherie…… the same place that we ate with Mark and Sue on our first night in Key West!! Again, it was good. Here are some pictures that we got because we had more sunlight…… and got some sunset pictures. In the first picture, note the guy on the roof top. He was singing reggae music, and was pretty good…..
During the day, we also stopped at the John Pennekamp State park to check on a glass bottom boat ride out to some coral reefs. That will be covered in Monday’s blog.
