Gulf Coast RV Club Weekend Outing

Last weekend, we made our first campout with the GCRVG since last August at Rayborn's Crossing RV Park. This time, the outing was at the Country Place campground in Cut 'n Shoot, TX. Since our friends from Lake Charles, Mark and Sue Didelot are heading to Iowa for the summer, we decided that we would extend the weekend and spend a little more time with them. The four of us arrived on Thursday, and stayed until Monday. The weather over the weekend was fantastic, but it began to rain heavily on Sunday night and into Monday.

About four couples arrived on Thursday, while the rest arrived on Friday. The campground was very well kept, and it had several ponds where you could catch and release fish. It also had a nice rally room as seen in the following picture.

On Saturday morning, we had a large breakfast spread. One couple, Sandy and Dutch Dinwiddie are "dutch oven" cooking enthusiasts, and made several selections for each meal. Their contriburtions are apparent on the table in the heavy dutch oven pots.......... and they were good:

During Saturday, many folks did their own thing. The Didelot's and us went to some of the local flea markets. Saturday evening, we had another potluck meal, again with some of the Dutch oven products. Here are pictures of people eating:

One of the pleasant surprises of the weekend was that Carolyn & Ralph's daughter came camping this weekend, and brought her young son, Brandon. Since Patsy likes babies and kids, she spent a lot of time with Brandon! Here are some pictures..........

Another visitor for the weekend was Rod Getsy, who just happened to be spending some time at Country Place while his wife was visiting family in Germany. Rod is the South Central Coordinator for the Tiffin Owner's Network, and we first met him at a Tiffin Fall rally last November in Murchinson, TX. We invited Rod to join us for the Saturday night potluck. Here he is visiting with Mark:

The following are a few pictures of the Country Place Campground..............
