Because we were really tired after a long week of coordinating work and being woke up at 5:00am, we spent last Friday night at the campground at Bruce Deaton’s, We did not leave until after 10:30am to head toward Little Rock.
About 40 miles down the road, we remembered that we wanted to coat the new Diamond Shield on the front of the Bus with 303 Protectant to protect the finish, and make the bugs easier to remove, so we pulled into the first Walmart and applied it (a 30 minute job).
We later stopped at a Walmart at Holly Springs, MS to top of the diesel tank, and to have lunch, after which, we drove straight to our campground in downtown Little Rock. We arrived at 5:00PM, and set up at our site for a three day visit.
When we got to town, Rachel was attending a birthday party for a school friend. Her mother dropped her off at the Bus about 7:00pm, and she spent Saturday night with us in the Bus.
On Sunday morning, we slept late. While I was still asleep, Patsy and Rachel made pancakes......... with Rachel having "blueberry pancakes"!
We asked Rachel what she wanted to do, and that resulted in the three of us going to a North Little Rock movie theater to see My Little Pony, the longest 4 days I've ever spent in a theater!! Patsy and I watch a lot of DVD's on our TV's, and while I know snacks are expensive at the movies, I never thought a medium bag of popcorn would set me back $8.57!!!
Deanne picked up Rachel on Sunday night and took her home because Patsy and I did not want to have to get up early on Monday to take her to school!!
We got up Monday morning, and called the Little Rock Honda dealer, and made a 9:30am appointment to get our Honda TPMS issue resolved. When we arrived, I discussed the problem and events with the Service Writer, and she said 'no problem'!
We went into the waiting room, and I worked on my computer to check blogs, read emails, visit some forums, and read our local newspaper, and Patsy watched morning TV. In about an hour, she came to tell me that the car was ready. No problem with the car computer talking to their computer, and syncing the TPMS system. We paid our $95 (cheaper than popcorn!), and we were on our way.
At 5:00pm, we met Deanne, Mike and Rachel at her favorite restaurant, The Purple Cow, for a hamburger dinner. Of course, Rachel got her favorite milk shake!!
On Tuesday morning, we packed up the Bus, and left our campground early to park the Bus at a Walmart near Rachel's school. Then, after stopping at a McDonald's breakfast, we drove over to the school to meet Deanne at the school auditorium, where we were to be treated to a "Halloween parade"!! This turned out to be a stage crossing by each class beginning with the 4th grade and going down to the 3 year old pre-schoolers walking across the stage in their Halloween costumes and posing and waving for parents to take pictures,
Pulaski Academy is a private school in Little Rock that has very nice facilities. I took a few pictures inside the auditorium, and saw the big screen that I had forgotten about. The school streams events like these on the internet, and Deanne tells us where to go to see it! You can see the screen in some of the photos....
After the 'parade', the had a party in their room, where the kids played games and had a snack.
About 11:00am, Patsy and I said our 'good-byes' and headed back to hookup the car and pointed the Bus toward Texas. We drove to Lufkin, TX, and spent the night on a Walmart parking lot. Since we had picked up a replacement microwave/convection oven for our friends, Mark & Sue Didelot, we had made plans to meet them in Cleveland, TX at a Love's truck stop to deliver it. They live in Lake Charles, LA, but were on the way to the Canton, TX flea markets. We timed our arrivals, coming from different directions, and got there within 5 minutes of each other.
We moved the oven from my car to his, and visited a bit, and headed off in our original directions.
Our destination was the Traders Village RV Park in Cypress, TX on the West side of Houston, where we will be participating in this month's Lone Star Allegro Club rally. We got at the park, and set up for the weekend,
Tomorrow, Patsy and I will take the car and drive to our hometown to watch our grandson, Matthew's last football game of the season. Then, we will drive back to the Bus until Sunday! Of course, we will go by our neighbors to pick up the last 3 weeks of mail.
The next post will cover the trip home, and the Lone Star Allegro rally.
