The next two posts are a little late, and I am trying to catch up, because we are soon leaving an another trip!!
We had a couple of days to spend some place between the Allegro Club rally and the FMCA rally in Shreveport, so we had decided that we would visit New Orleans. We had normally stayed a Bayou Segnette State Park on the south side of New Orleans, but in the last few years, we had opted for other commercial parks in the area because the state park was closed for repairs after Hurricane Katrina.
It has since reopened and we made reservations. The clerk still apologized for the lack of trees that were lost during the hurricane…….. which was fine with me, since the DISH reception would be better!!! The park has spacious sites, and in our opinion is the best deal in town. The nightly fees are about $25, and they even have a free laundry……… if you need it!! I did not get any pictures, but you can see some HERE. Travel to downtown and the French Quarter is about 15 minutes.
We spend most of Tuesday downtown, and had a nice visit. We parked the car and did a lot of walking, and then picked up the car and drove around the French Quarter a bit. Here are some of the typical tourist pictures……
While walking, we went into The St. Louis Cathedral on the square in the French Quarter. It was beautiful inside……
We also enjoyed an order of the famous “beignets” from Café Du Monde. They are like ‘heavy’ donuts with powered sugar, and were really good and filling!!
We ended the day with dinner at Mulate’s, our favorite Cajun restaurant in Louisiana….
On Wednesday, we left early and drove the 325 miles to the FMCA Six State Rally in Shreveport.
