Grandkid’s Summer 2013 Vacation #1–Update #5

Thursday was a “stay at the park and do it all” day.  We were at the water park when it opened at 9:00am, and the kids immediately got real wet…..

The heavy water was from a ‘bucket’ dump!  Next it was on to the big slides…..

At about 11:00am, we went back to the Bus and cut up a watermelon that we got at a Wal-Mart on the way here……..

Today, they spent a lot of time on the “Lazy River” ride.  We all went on it early when it was cooler, and I have deemed it “Boring River”!!  The river flow was just too slow!  I got some pictures of Matthew and his friend ‘JD’ in, but they were playing and not just riding…..

They also took some time today to play some “golf”……..

Friday, we have to check out of our site.  I could not get reservation for the weekend.  Checkout is Noon, so they will probably swim until that time, and we will hit the road for home.

It has been a good trip!!

Grandkid’s Summer 2013 Vacation #1–Update #4

On Wednesday morning, we left the Lockhart State Park at about 9:30am and drove to the KOA-Jellystone campground in Waller, TX, with a couple of stops in between at grocery stores to restock.

We got to the campground at 12:45pm and check in time was 1:00pm, but they had our site ready, so we went on in.  By 1:15pm, the kids were in the water.

Although a bit pricey, since they automatically charge you for admission to the water park with the camping site, the park is nice enough that I decided it is a pretty good deal.  Here are some pictures of the park…………..

I expect tomorrow will be an all-day repeat of this afternoon.  The water park is open from 9:00am to 8:00pm.  And, yes, we got some sunburn in the almost 100 degree heat, but we had fun!!

Grandkid’s Summer 2013 Vacation #1–Update #3

Yesterday, we made a decision to take a day off from swimming.  I thought it was a good idea, since on Wednesday morning, we leave Lockhart State Park, and head to the Yogi Bear ‘Jellystone’ campground in Waller, TX near Houston.   The campground has a “nice” water park, or so it claims on it’s web site!!

Today’s agenda included a drive to New Braunfels, TX to visit the Mckenna Children’s Museum and Landa Park.   After New Braunfels, we drove up to the Cabela’s in Buda, TX to look at the large aquarium and the stuff wild animal displays.

The admission for the museum was $7.50 for each of us, which was a little pricey, but it was a nice place.  Matthew was a little bit old for most of it, but Aubrey really enjoyed it.

Here are some museum activity pictures, beginning with Aubrey, the artist…..

After getting a bite to eat, we headed for Landa Park.  It was hot, so we rode the train, and they played a while at the playground…….

We left Landa Park about 3:00pm and headed up I-35 to Buda which was about a 31 mile drive.  It was nice and cool inside, and the displays were also nice to look at.  We started at the aquarium…………

IMG_1522IMG_1526IMG_1527

And then we walked around the store and found some indoor fish ponds where they could feed the fish……….

IMG_1528IMG_1529IMG_1532

We got back to the Bus and had some more Kreuz Market sausage for dinner, and then watch another movie.  We also picked up the Bus,  took good long showers, and washed clothes in preparation for our departure on Wednesday morning to travel to the Yogi Bear park in Waller.
